Leafs face tough road ahead after loss to Preds

The Leafs are hurting.

In the 4-1 loss to Nashville last night the Toronto Maple Leafs lost both Matthew Lombardi and Mike Komisarek to upper-body injuries. There is no time table on either’s return but Leaf nation is hoping its soon.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have an issue. The difference between Buffalo (the NE Division Leader) and Montreal (the Division cellar) is 3 points. The Leafs really need to string along a couple wins in the upcoming games or risk being at the very bottom of  a completive division.

The Good news: Reimer practised on-ice today with both goalie coaches. This would seem like a positive note for many Leafs fans who are once again hoping his return will aid a Maple Leafs comeback. The Leafs have currently lost 5 of the last 6 contests.

The Leafs play a back-to-back weekend this Saturday and Sunday against the recently-struggling Capitals and the lowly Hurricanes. If the Leafs can’t get solid goaltending and healthy fast, I have a feeling we are looking at a really tough November.

Caps in Toronto on Saturday, more in the Game Preview tomorrow.
